Arcon Projects Profile
Arcon Projects Ltd was formed in 2005 to provide outstanding architectural services to a broad
range of clients in Dunedin, Otago and New Zealand.
Craig McAuliffe who recently returned to Dunedin from 10 years of overseas experience started
the practice after a desire to establish a small architectural firm that could concentrate on excellent
design and documentation responding to the complexities of the New Zealand building industry.
He runs Arcon Projects from the rear of Prolab, 74 George St, Dunedin.
In 2005, Craig completed a large Australian commercial project that had a budget of over $300M
where he had a leading role within one of Australia’s most prominent and largest architectural firms,
Crone Partners Architectural Studios, in Sydney.
He has also worked in the United Kingdom for international architects Geoffrey Reid Associates
where he worked on several major projects including Heathrow and Gatwick International Airports.
Probably his most prestigious position was when he worked with the late famous London based
Yacht designer John Bannenberg. He assisted John with the design of several ‘super yachts’
and private jet fit-outs for some of the world’s most affluent people.
He did however start his working career in Dunedin with Harrison Gillies Architects, where he completed numerous residential and commercial projects over 2 ½ years, before moving to Queenstown for a further 2 years working with Devine Erby Mazlin Architects, completing several hotels and various light commercial and residential projects, before moving to the United Kingdom.
In 2006 he was invited to lecture part time at the Architecture department of Otago Polytechnic helping to shape the minds of future architectural professionals.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Architecture with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts, in Architecture, both from the University of Technology Sydney, a Diploma in Architectural Draughting with Merit, an Advanced Certificate in Construction and a New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Draughting, all from the Otago Polytechnic.
